Things you should do or maybe not?
You should not do:
Fight with people who are waiting to pay at the supermarket. Specially not if you shop there twice a week. It's quite accepted here that old people order things or get things before their turn, at least that is how it works at the bakery and people told me is works the same at the butcher. I get annoyed by it, but okay.
It is Wednesday evening I stand in line with my cheese, my tuna and milk. It is my turn to put my groceries on the conveyor belt, so I am absolutely not amused if someone drives into me with a full shopping trolley. It gets worse if that person is putting their stuff in front of my stuff at the register, specially because she just walked into the line, no waiting, no queuing, no nothing. I am not that stupid so I get my stuff and just give them to the cashier, no problem see people do it all the time.
To bad for me the old lady is poking me with her cane and pointing that I should wait behind her in line. I say no and she starts saying things I don't understand. The only thing I could follow was that she wanted help with getting her stuff in the car(?!) She got some more angry and even took my cheese! The lady behind the register was not impressed and eventually said to the lady that I was there first so I will pay first. The whole FIFO things did not work for the old lady.
Next stop fruit and vegetable shop where I would meet with Andy because he was in Terrassa and needed some vitamins because he was starting to feel ill (he promised it was not contagious). We were just discussing what you can eat with figs (for anyone who would like to know Greek yogurt is quite nice) en yes there she is again. By that time I told what happened in the supermarket 10 minutes before and we like to refer to her now as the horror grandma. The horror grandma has 20 mandarins, 10 apples and some vegetables. Normally no more then 2 people are waiting at the registry, and today was also a quite day. Some middle age guy is talking to the cashier so horror grandma decides to go back via the exit to enter the register at the exit. Not very handy since the shop is quite narrow and you are blocking the exit. But since the guy was still taking to the cashier horror grandma puts her fruit on the scale and starts knocking on the wooden boxes next to the register with here cane. She did just drop in but the cashier let her go first?! We wanted to go see what she would do at the next shop, to bad we just had to wait in line to pay and by the time we were outside she disappeared.
You should do:
Get your English certificate. I wanted to do a language course, but after a quick search I found out that most language courses are Spanish-Spanish or Catalan-Spanish. I found one which was English-Spanish, but then you had to sign up for 6 months right away. So I asked around at the University and they told me there is another language program, but it is a bit different then the ones I had been looking at. The idea was that you would meet up with someone who speaks the language you want to learn, and I would speak the language the other person wants to learn. To bad NO-ONE wants to learn Dutch, 160 people not a single one of them want to learn the beautifully language with more exceptions then rules?! I could not sign up for me speak English because it is not my first language. But after some organizing I got a Native English Speaking Certificate, I think it only counts for Spain and Spanish regions. But that is okay, if I would get my didactics certificate I can teach basic English to starters. I thought that was funny. But now I am matched with Sergio Andres Rueda, he wants to learn English for his Master Degree. But as far as I understood he can only say good morning, and my Spanish is really basic so this might be interesting!
